People using computer for more than two hours a day will have to face the suffering of Computer Vision Syndrome. This is associated with the symptom with the people who use computer for many hours every day, and people who are more users of iPod and iPhones for hours in a day. The common symptom which helps to detect the syndrome is dry or irritated eyes, fatigue, eye strain and headaches.

There is a way to keep the eye away from strain; these simple tips are as follows.

The 20/20/20 rule is if you are sitting in front of the electronic device for hours like computer than for every 20 minutes; spend twenty seconds looking twenty feet’s away to give rest to your eyes.

Blink your eyes often while sitting in front of the electronic eyes as the blinking will water your eyes and will help your dry eyes to relax. Tears are the natural therapy for your eyes. You need to blink at least four to five times while sitting in the front of your computer in an hour.

You need to place your computer in proper location, optimally the screen of the computer should be 15 to 20 degrees below eye level as measured from the center of the screen and it should be away at least 20 to 28 inches away from the eyes.

There should be proper lighting as this will ease your eyes from strain. There should be bright light overhead to a minimum position, it should be at the position from the desk lamp to shine on your desk and it should not shine at you. The computer screen should not reflect or it should not glare from windows or overhead lights.

The modern world is a place where everything is guided by economic forces. Even the military might is unimaginable without being backed up by a sound economy. The system governance is also adjudged on the economic strength of a nation. This picture is today clear when we see the race for being number one in the economic field between India and China. As we know, whereas India has democratic system of government, China is ruled by the laws of autocratic Communist system. So through its calculated efforts to bring about quick economic wellbeing of its people, the country wants to give a message that Communism is the best form of government for the people at large. On the other hand the unprecedented success of India in the matter of the GDP growth rate is bound to prove China wrong.

Among several other factors, the prevalent one-child norm of the Chinese society is proving as an impediment in the future growth rate. In the current financial year, China was hoping the GDP to remain at 9.50 %. However, fortunately due to some unexpected helpful reasons, the rate is destined to touch an encouraging 10 %. Despite that, according to the economic experts and the World Bank, it is bound to slump down to 6 to 7 % in the next couple of years. The main fctor for this downward trend is supposed to be the graying Chinese population. If the number of young people goes down, who will take up the arduous responsibility of making the country rich ? Another retarding factor appears to be the excessive emphasis on exports. Even the World Bank has advised China to limit its production for the domestic use only. The policy of rampant export may ditch the country if due to some unimagined reasons the export market shrank. In addition to these, the Chinese ambitions of being a super power is devouring huge money for defence requirements which could be spent on the public welfare.

On the other hand, in the matters of population,India has a shining prospect. According to the World Bank estimates, the hugely young Indian population is ready to overtake other countries in the high growth bracket. In course of his recent India visit, Barack Obama said that some 50 crore of people here are of thirty years or less. They have enough potentials to take their motherland to a new height of economic resurgence. They are further optimistic that by 2013, the Indian growth rate will leave behind other economies by a big margin. Moreover, the economic experts of India are carefully managing a healthy balance between export and import. They are not at all in favor of short-cuts and short-living measures. Moreover, they are giving importance to defense only to the extent of the requirements of the national security. They are very clear in their vision not to be a military superpower and bully the neighbors and other countries. In the hands of such policy makers, the country appears to be safe.

It is in the above context that the US president admitted that India is not an emerging power, but as a matter of fact it has already emerged. It is not just for enquiring about the temperature and season that he came to India. Obama clearly perceived that India had potentials to take the American economic chestnut out of fire to a great extent. As a matter of fact, through some solid negotiations with the Indian entrepreneurs in Mumbai, he succeeded in creating 50,000 new jobs for the unemployed lot in the US. On the other hand, Dr. Manmohan Singh boldly told that he was not interested in stealing jobs from America. These emerging trends on international level are proof enough to signal to our critics that the democratic India is strongly surging ahead and in near future will lead the world in the field of economic progress

The much hyped recently concluded Commonwealth Games (Oct.3 – 14,2010) successfully concluded on a peaceful note. Sharp criticisms in the media, highly critical reactions from the opposition political parties and discouraging comments from some of the participating countries all disappeared in the air and once the games started, there was praise all around. The never before pomp and show of the inaugural function and closing ceremony surprised the world and particularly the countries envious of India had to swallow their hate India campaign. India intended to showcase its emergence as a super power and she was 100% successful in that mission.

The above success story should not lead us to smugness as the CWG had several minus points as well which we can ignore only at the cost of self-destruction. The cries of the opposition political parties from the housetops about corruption, were not baseless. The investigations which were launched immediately after the games, are leaving initial indications about the serious lapses. Till today, democracy is the best form of governance. Simultaneously it has some inherent drawbacks including leniency towards crimes. In several sectors corruption appears to have been institutionalized. When a contract is awarded ,it has all guidelines about time, money, quality of work etc. It is also in the law that due to some reasons if only three months are left, there will be no tender. So the interested parties start adopting tricks to delay the work. They also arrange people who file PILs to take the matter to judiciary and delay. Therefore it is the duty of the Government to take strict precautionary measures so that the contractors are not allowed a field day.
Initially it appeared that the games would have to be cancelled. Under public pressure when the work started on the right keel, the end result was the best. That clearly shows that India has the potential and resources to handle any responsibility of international proportion. Therefore it is the responsibility of the authorities to restrain greedy and corrupt elements. They who are found involved in looting public money should be forced to face the judiciary and awarded the maximum punishments which will work as the effective deterrents.
The security agencies can boast of complete success. No nefarious designs of rowdy and terrorist elements could succeed. Perhaps all venues of international future games in China, Scotland and England are keenly looking towards India for tips to handle the task. Perhaps they may send their key personnel to be trained by the Delhi police. The benefits of successfully handling terrorism in last twenty years or more by India are being already shared with other suffering friendly countries.

For successfully organizing the Commonwealth Games, Delhi Government’s ambitious programme Samajik Suvidha Sangam –Mission Convergence, according to newspaper reports, has been awarded two gold medals. The award was announced by the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management in its annual conference held at Malta on Oct.20. There were as many as 150 entries from the Commonwealth countries and the Mission Convergence topped the list

The Amity University trained 22,000 volunteers free of cost who presented an example of an ideal way of handling the guest . The University has earned a lot of accolades and perhaps may be approached by other counties for making available the same foolproof training. A footbridge near the JLN stadium, suddenly fell down when 80% work had been completed and only about a week of time was left for inauguration. Exactly then the Indian Army intervened and the footbridge was completed in four days. The guests confirmed that the facilities available in the Games Village were of Olympic standard which enhanced our prestige in the comity of nations. Similarly our players and athletes gave an excellent account of themselves by completing the century of medals.

If the positive and dismal parts of the CWG-2010 are carefully studied and acted upon, we are sure, India will further improve upon its present performances in such huge commitments in future.

There is an old saying that when you laugh, others will also laugh with you but when you are in distress, You weep alone. In Bihar politics,it had happened earlier with Dr. Jagannath Mishra and today it is happening with Lalu Prasad Yadav. Leave about others, his own near and dear have started deserting him one by one as if his green and beautiful orchard is undergoing the untimely autumn season. This often happens in politics when the leader resorts to one-man show and does not trust others to emerge as his successor. This also happens when the man ruling the roost permits his family to prevail on honest political norms.

While Lalu was the Chief Minister, his own scions were minors and not legally entitled to try their luck in politics. The elder son Tejaswi wanted to play cricket and the father put entire Bihar Crocket Association at his dear son’s doorstep. In this situation his two brothers-in-law (wife side) namely Sadhu Yadav and Subhash Yadav suudenly appeared as top politicians. Under judicial pressure, when he was compelled to lay down office,in his entire party, there was none whom he could believe to be worth accepting the crown.Even a scholarly professor like Raghubansh Prasad Singh, could not pass in the acid test of the party supremo. Thus the chief ministerial mantle was passed on to an illiterate house-wife vz. his wife Rabri Devi. Did a big state like Bihar deserve this treatment? He is today paying the cost of that great joke at the hands of the reluctant voters.

Lalu’s brother-in-law,Sadhu Yadav, when denied ticket from the parliamentary constituency of his choice at the time of the last general election,he immediately left the party and joined the Congress. He unsuccessfully also tried his luck against the RJD candidate in that election. Since then Sadhu has been following his one-point programme of destroying the erstwhile Lalu empire. Lalu’s second brother-in-law subhash Yadav has also changed his horse in the mid-stream.He deserted the RJD and is contesting the ongoing assembly poll against the official candidate of Lalu. Simultaneously, some other tested lieutenants of Lalu Prasad also seeing the bleak prospects of the Lantern, shifted their loyalty to othe greener pastures. Only a few days back,Akhilesh Singh, a known Bhumihar leader of the RJD in Gaya,Aurangabad,Jahanabad and Rohtas belt, bid goodbye to Lalu.Singh charged that from the very beginning,he was opposed to the alliance with Ram Bilas Paswan and when his reasonable stand was ignored,he had no chice but to leave the party. Similarly,Umashankar Singh,a strong Rajput leader of the party also is going out because he did not like his co-casteman Prabhunath Singh of the JD(U) to come to the RJD fold. The cold response to the RJD candidates shows that the party is destined to meet its Waterloo. Defeat is such a sad situation that the losing party comes face to face with the virtual disintegration. Several Journalists, known for their close eyes on the developments in Bihar, are of the opinion that some other non-Yadav leaders of the RJD will also desert the party.

Politics is a very cruel field. When it gives,it gives abundantly and when it takes, it takes everything mercilessly. In his heydays,Dr.Jagannath Mishra could pick up anybody (for example Gauri Shankar Rajhans) and make him a MP. Later when he was down the hill, his own seat also could not be retained despite changing the party on and off. Perhaps the same fate is awaiting Lalu Prasad Yadav. He is an intelligent politician, very close to the mass. If he properly could change his priorities to win back public support, the chances of revival are always there.

As an author and human rights and social activist, Arundhati Roy is a famous personality. She has been raising her voice on different national and international issues. However very few people know about her turbulent life and multi-faceted activites. Being the daughter of a social activist and cousin of the famous TV personality Prannoy Roy, she has inherited these qualities by birth. However, some of her recent statements have made her further controversial and she has to face strong public reaction.

Arundhati Roy is born of a Keralite Christian mother and a Hindu father. She was born at Shillong,Meghalaya on Nov.24,1961.Since her parents had a short married life, hence she had to pass her childhood with her mother in Kerala. She completed her schooling in Kerala itself. Just at the age of 16,she came to Delhi and joined the Delhi School of Architecture. There she deve- loped intimacy with a co-student named Gerard da Cunha whom she married later on.By chance both of them had virtually no interest in the subject of architecture and so they left the institution and shifted to Goa.In Goa they had a very difficult time in maintaining themselves. Their marriage also proved short-lived.Arundhati returned to Delhi.

Wile she was struggling in Delhi, the famous film director Pradeep Kishen was making his film “Massey Saab” in which he offered a small role of a tribal girl to Arundhati in 1984.Immediately after that she married Pradeep Kishen. It was the time when she got a scholarship to go to Italy to study conservation of historical monumets for eight months. On her return she got a break in the Doordarshan. With her husband she was given a serial entitled Banyan Tree of 26 episodes. To her misfortune, the serial was scrapped shortly after going on screen. Then she wrote screenplays of some other serials.Arundhati had also the luck to write the screenplay of Shekhar Kapoor’s block-buster Bandit Queen. After that she suddenly ended her tryst with film and TV field and started concentrating on her forte viz. writing.

Arundhati’s experiment with the pen proved highly beneficial. She wrote her world famous magnum opus named “God of Small Things”for which she was awarded Booker’s Prize in 1997. Her literary fame sky-rocketed overnight. Side by side she also started showing her presence in the field of social service and human rights. The world took notice of her personality’s this aspect as well and she was awarded Sydney Peace Prize in 2004. She is seen even today writing on topics like Narmada Dam Project,India’s nuclear weapons,Enron’s activities and neo-imperialism.However her recent vociferousness on several sentimental issues is causing concern to the authorities as well as nationalist citizens of the country.

In Oct.2010,in Delhi she was instrumental in organizing a seminar in which the Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani openly called for “Azadi”.This suddenly surprised the non-committed people in the crowd. Arundhati was not sorry for that. The matter reached its flash point when on Oct.18,2010 at Jalandhar she trumpeted against India for allegedly colonizing Kashmir. She named some other states as well including a few in the North-East with whom India was treating as colonies. We want to know if she is ready to give freedom to other states as well to gain independence. How many states will be ready to stay with the Union in not only India but also China? She has been espousing the cause of Naxalites because she has not lost her near and dear at the hands of these extremists. If criminals and extremist are given the licence of legality, who will take the risk of running the government?

Arundhati Roy is a genious and India is proud of her.But she is good till she maintains her limit. Many people charge that she can stoop low to any extent for publicity.A few have filed cases against her for such anti-national statements. If everybody starts giving his own interpretation of democracy and justifying it,we shall not be far off from a total chaos. We request her to pause and look back.

. With the immediate effect, the electoral code of conduct stands in place.By the end of Nov.2010,all the electoral requirements will be complete and God willing,if the people’s verdict remained positive, the new government will assume the office thereafter.

Now the battle in the ground is ready to be fought. The ruling party will tell the electorates about its developmental and other achievements. On the other hand, the opposition stalwarts will try to put the government in the dock by mercilessly decrying the Chief Minister for his innumerable acts of commissions and omissions. Whereas the main opposion will strongly refer to the CAG report to charge the present regime as a gang of looters.Nitish Kumar will castigate the RJD supremo for doing no development work for 15 years and simply looting the State.Since its divorcing of RJD,the Congress has adopted a two-pronged policy cornering both Lalu Yadav-Ram vilas Paswan combine and JD(U)/BJP led government in Bihar.

Thus the three-pronged electoral fight with cut-throat competition for wooing the minorities will definitely make the electoral battle highly interesting. The leveling and counter-levelling of teasing charges will definitely confuse the gullible voters. In this connection, one can easily find the oft- repeated charge of Rahul Gandhi that the Centre has been pouring funds for Bihar but the state government has not been using it properly. He had raised similar charges against the UP government earlier when the state was undergoing Assembly polls.
However, this time the doughty Chief Minister of Bihar,by giving a befitting reply has left the young Congress General Secretary cluless.Nitish argues that like other states,Bihar gets its share in the income from the Central taxes. Moreover, the Planning Commission gives sttutary money to all states as budgetary support. Acoording to the Bihar CM,Rahul should calculate the total amount of the said two sources and tell about any single paisa given to Bihar beyond that. Nitish stoutly says that no extra fund was received.Despite that if the State has recorded an unprecedented growth, how one could say that the state government has no expertise to use Central money properly.

Similary,Nitish managed to give a befitting reply to his main political opponents including those in the Centre who charged that the CAG report was sufficient to expose the wanton mismanagement of the public money.Within 24 hours the required explanation came from the Sate Govt. Nitish, from the housetop declared that not one rupee was defalcated.Only in the haste of completing the project in time, the receipts of expenditure were not filed and they would now be updated quickly. He further added that if it was an unpardonable crime, several states including Gujarat and West Bengal and some important ministries at the Cetre should be aked to stand in the dock for similar non-updating of expenditure receipts.
The most dependable plank of the JD(U)/BJP-led government in Bihar is going to be its well visible performances in road construction, education, restoration of law and order, so on and so forth. These works are calculated to be effective enough to bring second term for Nitish. However, there is a big ‘IF’.There are some important examples of Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra),Om Prakash Chautala (Haryana) and S.M. Krishna (Karnataka) from under whose feet the voters pulled the rug despite their exemplary performances on different fronts. The clear indication is that even beyond the perceptible performances, some nuances are there, ignoring which, the apple-cart of the rulers may be toppled. One hopes that Nitish is aware

During the early cold war days of fifties, the prolonged Republican regime in the USA,through its pronounced pro-pakistani policies, had kept on harassing India. In the early sixties, when the Democrats returned to power, there was a marked change in their policies towards India and Pakistan. When the Republicans came back to power,India was once again targeted. The Democratic Bill Clinton’s Presidency saw a new thrust in the policies. The American thinktank realized that in order to appease Pakistan,it was not reasonable to push India, the biggest stable democracy ,against the wall.Rampant militarization of Pakistan got a brake.Barak Obama’s assuming of American Presidency, brought clearcut changes in the Indo-US policies. Even though the Republican Bush had made the beginning with the nuclear treaty,Obama earned the credit of giving a solid shape to the growing Indo-US relationship. In this backdrop,if we look at the prospects of coming India visit of Obama,we shall find that several good signs are already available.

To finalise the agenda for the bilateral talks between the Indian PM and the American President, the Indian Foreign Secretary,Nirupma Rao had gone to Wahington.Later on Robert Blake, the US Assistant Secretary of State had held a round table conference on the last Sept.16,the details of which were released to the press on Sept.20 . In that it was indicated that the team of Robert Blake,Assistant Secretary of State and Hillary Clinton,Secretary of State, led by the President himself is dedicated and well intentioned to take Indo-US relations to new heights. According to Blake,US aims at forging a parternship with India that will help shape the 21st century. In the American estimation,”No other country has the humanitarian legacy, thriving democracy, economic promise and sheer human capital that India has.”

Disclosing the llikely lines of discussions, it was added that the Americans were aiming to confine talks to prominently the following three theme groups:

A. Technology innovation and trade which go to show India’s economic rise.

B. Inclusive growth and mutual prosperity,to help lift millions of Indians out of poverty, and

C. Defence, security and our support for India’s growing global role and influence.

In addition to the above ,both the leaders may like to further talk about collaborations in several other fields including education. It is learnt that some 18 major American universities are ready to enter into the Indian education field. It is on the record how repeatedly Obama has been appreciating the excellent performances of the American students of Indian origin.

Recently when the New York Times had informed about the presence of the Chinese forces in Gilgit-Baltistan region of POK,the Chinese authorities had denied.Immediately after that India submitted the unrebuttable proof in shape of photographs received from its own satellites and Beijing turned reticent. The latest news says that the US administration has ordered to the Boeing Aeronautic company to manufacture unmanned solar engined spy planes which can remain in the sky for years together and do the assigned secret surveillance work. Our growing relations with the US will be a strong warning to our enemies that no more they can befool India.
For last more than a decade,India has been making hectic efforts to mobilize support on international plane to ensure a permanent place in the UN Security Council. The campaign did not appear to be fruitful as the US was reluctant. In a report appearing in the Global Governance on Sept.21 2010 , India has been rated as the third most powerful country after the US and China. If the European union is also taken as an independent entity,India’s position will be fourth.Who will like to like to ignore this waking giant? Some other countries including Brazil are also in the queue. However, the above brief background is enough to indicate that this time the positive nod of the big brother may pull the Indian chestnut out of fire. If it happens,it is bound to cement the strengthening Indo-US friendship

Our earth is the center of our lives. And, not only that but also the origin and sustainer of this life. For this reason, many wonder why we deal with our earth so carelessly and destructively.

Every day, a number of species are disappearing from this planet. They are the unique creatures and plants, which have developed, and never harmed anyone over centuries and millennia.

Every day, nature loses more of its unique developments for some terrifying reason. There has been a rapid growth in deforestation which is one of the global concerns. A large number of forests trees are cut down for palm oil, cheap paper, cheap wood thus destroying the ecosystem and the habitats of many unique species. The Orangutan, our closest relatives among the animals, are been exterminated by the humans. The South China tiger is probably extinct now.

With every nation busy working towards their development and turning out to be considered as the developed country, the natural resources are been used blindly and unlimitedly. The sad feature of this development is that the progresses are disturbing the other species on this earth. No one seems to realize that we need nature and that without the nature; the existence of human beings is not possible.

In accordance to the scientists, today there exist about 1.5 million of species on this earth.

In the United States America alone, about 496 species of animals and 735 species of plants are been declared as endangered.

Worldwide, more then 1,000 animal species are endangered.

There are more than 3,500 sheltered areas in existence worldwide. These areas include wildlife refuges, parks and other reserves. They cover a whole of almost 2 million square miles (5 million square km), or 3% of our total land area.

From the Indian point of view, the recent India visit of the British Prime Minister may be adjudged the best so far by any of his predecessors. Even though he has just taken over the charge of this prestigious office, he has amply left indications being an astute politician. The clear cut stands taken by him on several complicated issues are reported to have been well appreciated in his home constituency as well. In the wake of the Wiki Leak’s damaging disclosures, by and large, the Americans also appear to be appreciative.

Going a step further from the USA, Cameron stoutly declared that Pakistan should take quick and strong steps to debar the terrorists of any nomenclature from using its land for any nefarious activities in any neighboring or other countries. He added that Pakistan would have to take proper legal actions against several notorious militants who have been known for crimes against innocent persons in India and elsewhere. For that matter Kasab’s case is an eye opener. At the outset Pak authorities refused to accept him as a Pakistani. Later when confronted with irrefutable evidences by India, they simply conceded. Still now, they are not ready for judicial proceedings against such mischief-mongers. Cameron rightly expressed his dismay. Definitely it was highly solacing for every Indian.
While in cyber city, Bangalore the British Prime Minister, quite in tune with his predecessor, Tony Blair openheartedly acclaimed India as an emerging super power. According to him in the new millennium, Asia has surfaced as the centre of the most flourishing economy with China and India taking the lead. Without their participation in any international programmes, the objective will remain unnerved. In this vein, the British Prime Minister strongly pleaded India’s inclusion in the UN Security Council.

Further clarifying his purpose of visit, Cameron said that the Indo-British cooperation only in the field of ant-terrorist activities was not the only thing for which he had come to India. On the other hand, he wanted to further strengthen the bilateral relations to an unprecedented height. If his words are to be believed, mutual relations between these old friendly countries are destined to reach a new horizon which augurs well for the world peace.
